The challenges ECEs face in their work and workplace environments are multifaceted and impact the professionals themselves, the field, and the children for whom they care. Therefore, there are calls to support ECEs’ wellbeing to positively impact workforce retention and child–educator relationships (Eadie et al., 2021).

This information session will give an overview of the MBSR for ECE's program, the time commitment and work involved as well as share information on the research of how MBSR supports individuals in their work and daily lives. The information session is free to attend. Sign up for the MBSR for ECE's program will follow the information session.

About MBSR
MBSR is an eight week (2.5 hours per week) plus retreat (3.5 hour) in-person program that teaches practical skills for managing stress and increasing resilience including for those experiencing chronic pain and illness. Sessions include learning a variety of mindfulness practices, gentle movement, and discussions about what stress is and how it affects our bodies, relationships, and daily experiences. Daily homework practices and brief recording worksheets are an important part of the learning.

Cost
The information session is free to attend. It will be hosted online.
The MBSR for ECE's program is $450 and is an in-person program. It is approved for PD funding through Alberta Childcare Grant Funding Program including time release funding of up to 23.5 hours.
It is led by Dr. Jackie Seidel and hosted by Common Digs.

About Dr. Jackie Seidel
Jackie is a qualified MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) program facilitator. She is an associate professor in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. She has designed and taught courses and programs in mindfulness and wellbeing (for undergrads) and contemplative education (for graduate students).
